Inlays / Onlays
These are types of fillings which can be constructed from the same materials as Crowns (see Crown and Bridge section) or made of composite resin. They are commonly done indirectly (outside the mouth) and then cemented or bonded to the tooth surface.
Inlays/Onlays are very useful when large sections of a tooth need to be restored and a strong material is desired to extend the longevity of the tooth structure.
This procedure requires also a dental or digital impression of the prepared tooth and its fabrication in a laboratory.
