Sleep Appliances
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition caused by obstruction of the upper airway and presents with the repetitive pausing in breathing during sleep, which reduces the blood oxygen saturation. Snoring is only one of the common symptoms of OSA.
The diagnosis of OSA is sometimes not easy, since the symptoms can be unrecognized for decades and the individual get used to the daytime sleepiness and fatigue.
Once your GP or respiratory physician has identified a diagnosis, Dentistry Illawarra can organize a mandibular (jaw) splint (MAS), which could help to reduce the snoring and the breathing pauses during the night.
