Conscious Sedation
We use different types of sedation depending on your needs.
Inhalation analgesia
We use Penthrox (methoxyflurane), which is a non-narcotic analgesic. It is self-administered via a hand held inhaler device.
It is indicted for the emergency relief of pain and before the use of local anaesthesia. It can be used by children (over 5 years) and adults and is easier to use than nitrous oxide (“happy gas”).
Oral Sedation
The use of an oral sedative can sometimes reduce fear and anxiety when coming to the Dentist. We may recommend the use of a drug (Valium) prior to dental treatment. Sedation may allow us to perform more complex dentistry in fewer appointments and in less time.
